Rain: Perfection in Droplet Form

Tainted Ink
A wet sensation passes its fingers across my face. As I look up to the sky and the rain continues to fall, I feel a great sense of euphoria. A rainstorm is an enigma that puzzles many with its power and unpredictability. Rain can grow corn four feet high as quickly as it can flood a city and induce mass chaos. People across the world live and die because of rainstorms. Both too much and too little of it can kill in the blink of an eye. Rainstorms can end droughts and create them no matter where you live. Not many forces of nature can flex such a great deal of control of the land. Rainstorms display grace, strength, and surprise in a matter of four minutes or four days as they fall onto the Earth from their gray clouds. All of these characteristics in a single force of nature are the reason rainstorms are so appealing.

I looked curiously down my street, watching the rain as it hit the bare Earth with sheer spotlessness. The rain was falling flawlessly slanted as it abused the black asphalt. Rainstorms are like ballerinas, elegantly moving across the land with beauty and perfection. This event causes a feeling of ecstasy to overrun me. No matter if the raindrops are building up or destroying, they always fall with incomparable attraction. Rain is like an army, set in place accordingly and never breaking its chain of defense. No drop of rain falls out of place. Rain is the symphony heard at a grand theater, with not a single note out of place. Aptness like this cannot help but attract the eyes of onlookers. Rain speaks as it falls, telling a story of where it has been and where it is going. Rainstorms, although assumed as depressing, are actually the essence of an abundance of life. They are like the gasoline that fuels cars. Without it, everything would be at a standstill.

As the rain began falling harder, I quickly ran back home and entered my house to seeking shelter from the strength of yet another rainstorm. I was already ringing water out of my red shirt as I watched the rain grow heavier, and the raindrops larger. Rainstorms can have the strength of hundreds of men. Their strong gusts can easily uproot trees and flip cars. Rainstorms are like boxers in the ring. They start and finish strong, and can last for hours. Such strength is not only difficult to find in nature, but also in man. For example, once during a heavy rainstorm, I was gazing outside of my clear window when I saw my mailbox had been taken away by the rain! Such strength is truly an attribute to admire. Rain can also cause extensive flooding. I have seen this first hand. After that same rainstorm, I went outside only to find my pool had overflowed! Rain is the only type of weather that could pull off such an amazing feat.

The rainstorm continued, and I stared in amazement at the collection of water in my front yard. Puddles were forming everywhere, and the mud formed from the grass and rain had begun to flow into the street. Then, all of a sudden, the rain stopped. It is this element of surprise that makes a rainstorm so intriguing. Rainstorms can start even on a sunny August day, and you can never guess how long they will span. This bolt from the blue is something about rainstorms that is greatly revered. Rain falls out of the clouds like a girl jumps out of a cake. Most elements of weather, such as tornadoes and hurricanes, can be predicted and tracked. However, in the case of a rainstorm, the future is not so clear. Rainstorms are as swift as a ninja, having the ability to appear without notice.

As the rain eased up, I slowly stepped outside onto the wet pavement, splashing with my every move. I glanced across the vast yard, spotting puddles not only in crevices on the street, but also in patches of soil. Rainstorms are the only culprit from a crime scene like this. Rainstorms are gentle, giant beasts that can be a force to reckon with. They are as polished as a brand new car. Rainstorms are also strong, like an ox pulling a giant wagon. The best thing about rainstorms, however, is that they are full of surprise, like the prize in a box of Cracker Jack. These are only a few of the characteristics that make rainstorms key to the way of life we know. As the clouds began to move through the sky once again, the sun shined down onto the wet land, ending another torrential rainstorm.
