The Company:
Pros: They are very friendly and they return calls right away, even if I call around 4:30 PM, someone usually calls before most folks leave at 5 PM. They also bend over backwards to make you happy.
Cons: Our salesman told us that we could wait 90 days without paying, then take our bill into Home Depot and transfer the balance to a 0% for 12 months plan and then after that we could transfer the debt around from 0% card to 0% card until it was paid off comfortably in about 3 years. When in reality, the Home Depot folks had no idea what I was talking about. I had to call RainSoft directly who said that I was supposed to transfer the debt in 30 days and then they pulled some major strings to get me a 0% for 12 months rate through another financial institution (KUDOS). I cannot, however, transfer the debt around. I have to pay the $5,995 in 12 months or start paying 18% this time next year. So that means "bye-bye tax returns" and about $200 payments for the next year. We had intended on paying and had budgeted for $100/mo. Major strain in the finances. We would have gotten a bottom of the line system rather than a middle of the line system if we had known the whole truth.
The RainSoft System:
Pros: The skin and hair of my entire family has been so soft and silky. My son has had one little pesky spot of eczema that refused to budge and after a month of using this water system it has vanished. I watered some flowers that I bought for my daughters birthday and they lasted nearly a MONTH! If drinking this water will triple my families life span as well, that would be an amazing thing. The water tastes SO good! I can not begin to describe how delicious the mineralized water is. Now, when I go to friends houses I can actually smell the water before it comes to my face and the taste is horrible. I can't believe the difference! I've always had a pretty difficult time getting indoor plants to grow but now that I'm watering them with pure water, they are growing beautifully. Our salesman promised that people who struggle with kidney stones have fewer incidences. I really hope that is true! We have been able to cut our soap and detergent consumption in half without sacrificing cleaning quality. Also the company gave us new shower heads that save water. We have seen a $10 decrease in our water bill because of that.
Cons: We were told that our toilets would stay clean and there would be less residue and build up in general on and in our appliances. Our toilets are just disgusting with this black stuff in the bottom that has never been there before. No toilet cleaner, not even those with bleach, have gotten it out. The same stinky black stuff is clogging our dishwasher. I did a mold/mildew test on it and it came up negative so I really don't know what it is, but it's gross and just developed after changing to this system.
