Finding activities for children to do on rainy days can be very stressful! It never seems to work when you tell them to go play in their room or playroom. They don't want to play by themselves, children want attention when they are bored and you need to provide it. You'll get nothing else done otherwise! You know you don't want to stick them in front of the television all day, so what else can you possibly do to keep them happy?
Below I have compiled a list of five awesome rainy day activities that are sure to keep even the "most bored" child busy all day long!
# 1 ~ Puzzles
Children, especially young children, love puzzles. Add in the fact that puzzles help with dexterity and fine motor skills and you have the perfect rainy day activity!
# 2 ~ Reading
Boost their love of reading! If your children are old enough to read on their own, let them set up "camp" in the living room and just chill out and read all day! If they are too young to read on their own, still set up "camp" but add a space for you to read to them.
# 3 ~ Baking
A rainy day is the perfect time to bake cookies, cakes or bread with your children. Instill in them a love of home cooked food and teach them how to follow a recipe at the same time!
# 4 ~ Homemade Gifts
Rainy Days make the perfect days to get started on your holiday gifting! Have your children help you make gifts for friends and family. Pick a few easy craft projects, such as personalized wooden ornaments. Let the kids paint the ornaments and you can personalize them!
# 5 ~ Board Games
They were perfectly named "board" games. When the kids are "bored" pull out a few "board" games and get playing! You'll be having fun in no time and the kids will have forgotten all about being "bored"!
No more boredom in your house on a rainy day! Keep this list nearby and your kids will always be happy and excited on a rainy day! When you have some extra time, (I know ha, ha, but believe me taking the time now will save you time in the long run!) search the Internet for more great rainy day activities for your children!
