Moon Sand
Moon Sand is moldable sand that never dries out. It comes in a wide range of colors. A variety of Moon Sand accessories, like molds, are sold separately. Kids like Moon Sand because they can mold it into various shapes. It can be played with indoors. It takes a shape easily and pops out of the molds easily.
Preschoolers often play with Moon Sand just as they would sand at the beach. The benefit is that there is no need to add water to Moon Sand. Moon Sand creations can be baked in the oven to preserve the shape. Moon Sand is easy to clean up. Simply sweep or vacuum the stray Moon Sand. It doesn't stain or leave a residue.
Play-doh
Play-doh is the classic molding toy. It's available in many colors and with many kits that include different kinds of molding and shaping tools. The texture and feel of Play-doh appeals to kids of all ages. Play-doh is a toy that allows a child to be fully engaged in the creative process.
Parents like Play-doh because it appeals to a variety of ages and personalities. It's a great toy to bring out at a play date when the kids are too young to play well together. While Play-doh can be messy, it is easy to clean up as long as it doesn't get on carpeting or upholstery. It also needs to be put away as soon as play time is over. Play-doh left out for more than a few hours will dry out and won't be as soft or pliable as stored Play-doh.
Finger Painting
Many kids enjoy getting their fingers and hands messy with finger paints. It's a fun, creative activity for some children. For others, the thought of getting the hands covered in finger paints is a turn off and will make finger painting an un-enjoyable activity. It is a messy activity for preschool kids and requires them to wear old clothing or painting smocks. Parents may want to place newspapers on the table and the floor to protect the surfaces. Kids that enjoy getting messy will have a blast finger painting!
Parents need to have an arsenal of creative activities for preschool children to do on rainy days or any other day they are housebound. Play-doh, Moon Sand and finger painting are all engaging activities that will keep young kids busy for an extended period of time.
