Rainy Days Always Make Me Down

Mrs.Rogers
Rainy days always get me down.
They make my face start to frown.
I'd rather watch a boring clown,
Then sit and listen to it coming down.
I know we need it,
Cannot live without it.
But sometimes I wish it would stop.
Heard the saying, "Enough already",
Well that is how I feel today.
Today I had planned to work outside.
I wanted to wait until it had dried.
It has rained for several days,
Teasing me with the sun from time to time.
A little break here,
Alittle break there,
Then out of nowhere here it comes again.
"Finish already", I say.
I want to go outside and play.
Make the grass just a few inches higher,
So when I mow I will be more tired.
The garden will have tried to run away,
By the time I get to go and check it.
I will have to leave my shoes on the porch,
All because of the mud and dirt.
Simply cannot wear my good shirt,
Because everything is covered in mud.
Rainy Days always get me down,
They make my face start to frown.
I guess I'll just go to town.
Cannot play, or garden,
Outside time will wait for a sunny day,
And for now, I will listen,
Wait and hope, the rain will go away.

Add some thunder and lightning and I'm thrilled. I don't like gloomy days either though. Great job on this!

Yes, we need to wait it out, and it'll be sunny and bright again... Lovely poem! :)

Nice poem...I can identify with wanting to get outside and not being able to.

This is lovely. It reminds me of the beautiful song sung by Karen Carpenter "Rainy Days and Mondays" :-)
