Raising Poultry: Top 3 Websites for Chicken Lovers
A Guide to the Best Web Resources for Raising Chickens
In this farming article, we've scoured the web and found the top 3 websites for raising poultry. We reviewed over 100 separate poultry websites and ranked them according to the scope of their resources (do they just have articles, or do they offer other interactive media?), their level of expertise, and how popular they were among the experienced poultry hobbyists.
These are the websites that rose to the top of the review pile. They're websites that offer the best resources for those interested in raising chickens, as well as the most information and most interactive media. Use these poultry websites to learn more about raising chickens, and you will be well on your way to becoming a successful poultry enthusiast.
The Top 3 Websites for Raising Poultry (Ranked from first to last)
#1 Website for Raising Chickens: poultryOne's online Guide to Raising Chickens is by far the best general resource we've ever seen. Whereas most poultry websites just offer a handful of articles, poultryOne.com goes above and beyond this. poultryOne has 100+ articles on raising chickens, as well as an online community (think of it as MySpace for chicken lovers). It also has a library of links to help you find other poultry websites. A couple years ago, they had a 24-hour email help support line where visitors could email their chicken questions and get answers within hours. Their online poultry message boards have largely taken the place of this help line, but we still wish they'd bring it back. Other than that, there aren't many other websites that offer anything even close to the comprehensive, far-reaching, and need we say FREE resources found at poultryOne.com.
#2 Website for Raising Chickens: Mississippi State University's Department of Poultry Science. There are several universities and colleges that offer guides to raising poultry, but MSU's Department of Poultry Science tops them all. The information is scholarly, but easy to read, and you can bet it's all been well-researched and reviewed by poultry experts. The website contains dozens of pages of documents and electronic PDFs telling you all about how to feed your chickens, choose a chicken breed, and incubate chicken eggs. This website offers the most thorough articles we've yet to find.
#3 Website for Raising Chickens: The National Sustainable Agriculture Information Service is not the first website you might think of when it comes to raising chickens. But don't let the name fool you. Sure, they are focused on other things besides poultry, but their chicken resources, including their articles on feeding chickens, are like no other. If you're interested in raising your chickens on an organic, natural lifestyle, this is pretty much the only website we can suggest. Clean and well-layed out web design makes this site easy to use, and the information it has to offer is excellent.
