Raising Tadpoles

• tadpoles (of course)
• a plastic pan or an aquarium (aquariums are harder to clean)
• aged water

Depending on how many tadpoles you get depends on the size of your pan/aquarium. The ratio is 2 tadpoles per gallon of water. Over crowding is NOT good! You must have aged or decholorinated water. Aged water is regular water that has sat out for at least 24 hours. This will evaporate the chlorine. It's a good idea to store aged water in SUPER clean milk or soda containers/bottles. That way if the water really needs to be cleaned you don't have to wait a day longer before you clean it. You can also use a simple water conditioner which you can find at all pet stores.

Food:
You have to feed them twice a day with 2 tablespoons of boiled lettuce or spinach per tadpole. Do NOT use canned spinach! In addition also feed them 2 crushed rabbit pellets per tadpole. You will also need to feed them 2 crushed egg yolks each week, per tadpole.

THESE GUYS EAT ALOT, DON'T THEY?

Once the tadpoles start loosing their tails they will not need to eat. They will get their energy from this. If ammonia builds up the tadpoles will start looking dirty. If you leave them in this water they will die. If the water starts getting cloudy, brown, or smells really bad, it's time for some new water. It's probably a good idea to change the water regulary. Do NOT ever use soap!
