Raj Tells Ivy that Ivy that He Wants Out of Their Marriage on ‘90210’

Things finally begin to look up for Raj and Ivy, the young newlyweds on "90210." First, Raj gets some great news from his doctor. The treatment that he took for his cancer seems to be working. He was told he was in remission. It looked as if he wasn't going to die, as he, Ivy and everyone else expected. He was actually going to have to have the chance to live his dreams, instead of dying young from cancer.

Then Ivy wins a photographer contest. It looks like her dream is taking off. Her prize is a trip to a tropical island. She is excited about the prospect of going on a fun trip with her young and finally healthy husband.

However, Raj has other plans. He wants to apply to John Hopkins Hospital and become a doctor. The preadmission testing takes place during the same time as Ivy's trip. This causes a small rift between them. How can both of them achieve their dreams?

Raj never really thought he had the chance to beat cancer. He assumed he would die and that would be the end of his life. He never thought he would be able to live out his dreams. He never thought he would be able to go to medical school and continue being a husband to Ivy. This makes him want to go and chase his dreams even more.

Ivy, on the other hand, had worked hard to win that photography contest. Her photography was her coping mechanism when she thought she would someday soon have to say goodbye to her young husband. She, too, never thought he would actually beat cancer. Now that her husband was going to live, she wanted to continue enjoying her photographer and see how far she could take it. Plus, a nice fun vacation sounded so good to her after the months of worry she has been through with Raj.

Then Raj got a phone call. It was from his doctor. The test results were as final as he thought. His doctor told him that his cancer was not completely gone. He wasn't in full blown remission. The treatment just gave him a brief rise in his red blood cell count. This may not last.

After Raj got off the phone with his doctor, Ivy walks into the room all excited. She is holding their wedding album. She tells him that she wants to go to John Hopkin's with him. She loves him. She wants to continue putting her husband first.

Suddenly, Raj had a realization. He can't do this to Ivy any longer. He had to lie. He had to let her go. He had to free her from his disease and watching him die.

He lies and tells her that he is done with their marriage. He doesn't tell her about the phone call or the cancer. He leaves her alone in the room, clutching their wedding album.
