What stood out the most was the performance of the young point guard Rajon Rondo. With many critics saying that Rondo still has a lot to learn and is lucky to be on the team he is, Rajon Rondo took the opportunity to silence all. With the veterans not having much of an impact, Rondo amazed with a triple-double that avoided the Celtics being in a must win situation.
Although Garnett and Ray Allen both had 18 points each, they were in foul-trouble pretty early. It was up to the young Rondo to shine and that he did. He is currently only second on a list of the most triple doubles in Celtics post-season history, the first Larry Bird. The Boston Celtics are a storied franchise with a history that is rivaled possibly only by the Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Bulls.
With the Boston Celtics aging, it is clear that if they want to win another championship, this might be their best chance to do so. In 2008, when the Celtics won their first championship since 1986, they had a lot of the same players they do now...the largest difference however is that those players were already aging and two years can make a huge difference.
In the 2007-2008 season, Rondo scored 814 points in the regular season. This year in the 2009-2010 regular-season, Rondo significantly improved those numbers by scoring 1100 points.
At one point, Rondo had a great pass that made LeBron James look like he was playing in a high school game. The crowd in Boston was chanting MVP during the last seconds of the game for Rajon Rondo. This show of appreciation is hard to come by in Boston where sports are such an important part of life.
The Boston Celtics can hope to continue their storied history with another banner if they can get past the Cavs lead by the infamous LeBron James. Rajon Rondo might not stand out as much or get the accolades that LeBron does but he is worthy of playing on the Boston Celtics with such stars as Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and "The Truth" Paul Pierce. In fact, in this post-season they are lucky to have him.
The series now returns to Cleveland for game five.
