Looking to spend a night at the movies and wondering what movie theatre to choose in the Raleigh, North Carolina area? Here are five Triangle area theatres worth checking out for a cool, unique, and enjoyable night of entertainment.

Raleighwood Theatre on 6609 Falls of Neuse Road in the Falls Village Shopping Center offers cabaret -style seating with café tables and swivel chairs. Dine on pizza, salads, sub sandwiches, children's meals, desserts, wine, beer, and more while you enjoy a popular movie broadcast in Dolby surround sound. All seats are just $4.50. The Raleighwood movie theatre also offers gift certificates, birthday party packages, corporate event opportunities, and senior's day specials.

The Rialto Theatre is located on 1620 Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh. Originally built in 1942, this unique movie theatre offers a contemporary theatre experience with a vintage flair. The Rialto specializes in featuring foreign and independent films with a midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show every Friday at midnight. The concession stand offers quality movie fare as well as beer and wine. You can even book the theatre for private screenings, parties, and other special events. Discount tickets are available for senior citizens and college students.

If you like smaller theatres, check out the Colony Theatre at 5438 Six Forks Road. The theatre offers 2 movie screens, a cozy lobby decorated with works from local artists and casual seating. Like it's sister theatre The Rialto, the Colony Theatre shows foreign and independent films in addition to Cool Classics on the 3rd Wednesday each month. Tasty snacks, wine, and beer are available for purchase. There is discounted ticket pricing for matinees, late shows, college students, and seniors. The Colony Theatre is also available for private parties.

For a great movie night on a budget, you can't beat NC State University Campus Cinema in the Witherspoon Student Center on Dan Allen Drive. NC State students, staff and faculty pay only $1.50 for tickets while general public movie tickets are $2.50. There are also numerous free shows and previews offered throughout the year.

For the ultimate movie experience, visit the Wachovia IMAX Theatre located in Marble Museum at 201 E. Hargett St. in downtown Raleigh. With IMAX 3D, you'll feel like you're right in the middle of a great movie adventure. Movie show times begin most days at 10 or 11 am with the last show beginning at 10pm. Discount tickets are available for groups, children, and seniors.
