Raley's and Kroger Brand Crunchy Granola Bars

Chen Salis
I am a granola bar fanatic, I eat them daily as a part of my lunch. I generally buy my granola at Kroger's, I think the store brand of granola is just as great as Nature Valley. While shopping at one of my favorite stores, Big Lots, I ran across a deal I could not pass up Raley's Fine Foods Crunchy Granola Bars peanut butter flavor. I got a fantastic deal, I paid less than 80 cents for a 6 pack box of these granola bars.

I always wonder about products made by companies I have never heard of, but at well over half price from my normal Kroger brand of granola I could not pass this deal up. Raley's fine foods crunchy granola bars are made with whole grain oats, and they do not contain artificial color or flavor, so I knew they would at least be good for me even if they didn't taste great.

When I opened the box I was confused, these granola bars are in the exact same wrapper that my regular brand comes in. That reassured me a little, when I opened the wrapper I was pleased to find these are the exact same granola bars I get at Kroger's! I did not skimp on flavor or quality with this bargain!

When comparing the two separate brands I could find no difference other than the price! I wondered why I got such a fantastic deal, the only thing I can figure is the Raley's fine foods granola bars are close to being expired by a few months. Maybe they were pulled from shelves because of the near expiration date, or maybe the Raley's brand recently got a new packaging and look.

At any rate I feel this is a great product that is every bit as good as the national brand of Nature valley at a fraction of the price. If you like peanut butter and granola I would highly recommend you try Raley's fine foods crunchy granola bars in peanut butter flavor. They are tasty and good for you and a much better solution for a sweet tooth than a cookie or candy bar. If I run across this brand again I won't hesitate to buy it, but if I don't run across it I will keep buying the standard old Kroger brand! I would also recommend the Kroger brand of crunchy granola bars as they are wonderful and more affordable than Nature Valley.
