Ralph Lauren at New York's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
Newsboy Denim Blues Take the Stage in the Spring 2010 Runway Show
Denim Blues mix with Silver and a hint of Pink
The soft palette bespeaks femininity. Heathery shades of blue mixed with silver, slate and navy. A hint of pink and mint green punctuate the collection.
Chambray is paired with small floral prints.
Textures mix very soft chiffon and gauze as well as slinky lame and leather.
Lines
The formal line is accented with soft and flowing skirts with long hems
Business wear is softly tailored but professional.
You will see both Lauren's classic ruffled neckline and neck hugging scarves.
Accessories
Purses are smaller this season. Brown handbags are paired with loosely fitting leather belts.
Small encrusted purses look like pencil cases.
Newsboy hats and large slouchy fedoras pair with casual as well as formal styles.
Dangling crystals hang from the ears.
The Clothing
Denim jeans are torn and loose fitting. Chambray shirts in solids and stripes pair with boy-cut vests of navy. High heels with sparkles and newsboy hats accessorize the look.
Slightly more business-like navy pinstriped suits have loosely fitted jackets in navy, ankle length trousers or knickers and high heels, striped blue shirts with white collars, khaki braces, watch chains and four-in-hand ties. Top it with a gray newsboy hat.
The floral gauze shirt dress is short-sleeved and worn with bobby socks and leather lace-up ankle boots. The look is Appalachian, with long straight hair pulled back in a loose pony tail.
Formal
Long skirts are layers and layers of feathery ruffles.
All the other daywear is made of sparkling fabrics for nighttime drama.
Silver lame and chiffon flow softly.
Slate grays and denim blues in soft fabrics are richly beaded.
Surprises
Sparkling sheers can be layered over torn denim for an evening look.
Black high-heeled sandals pair with a short, sheer, layered, long-tailed shirt in organdy.
Silver jeans are torn and threadbare.
