Ralph's Chadwick Square Diner - No Divas Allowed

I am an accountant by day and a punk rocker at night. January is a particularly hectic time of year, and my desk looks and feels like an Accounting Emergency Room. "This invoice is bleeding to death!This purchase order is choking!" A bit melodramatic but you get the idea. Every Tuesday or Thursday night , I make my way to Ralph's Rock Club in Worcester to escape from being an adult for a while.

I dig out my Converse or Doc Marten's (depending on what night of the week ~ Thursday is Metal Night), my Suicide Girls tee and pretend I'm not 30 years old.

My idea of rest and relaxation is sitting in an antique diner eating hamburgers, looking at insignificant modern art, and being heckled by motley characters. Infamous for its urban punk and metal scenes, Ralph's represents indie atmosphere at its most irreverent.

I watched Chip the bartender peel potatoes, chop onions, and engage in banter at the bar while he cooked burgers and actually threw the buns across the counter. Noncommittally he answered the phone, 'Ralph's - Whadya Want' in a nod to Annie Potts in Ghostbusters.

Depending on what night of the week you happen to come to Ralph's , you could experience different genres of live, local talent. This is a rock music club, but if you just feel like going in the backroom and playing pool for a while, you'll have enough tacky conversation pieces to keep you entertained for hours. Come with a sense of humor, open mind, and an empty stomach, and you will have a memorable time.
