Salad
Select what type of crunchy vegetables you would like to use. Chop 5 to 6 cups of salad greens. Great crunchy greens to consider are cabbage, romaine lettuce, spinach, and kale. Grated carrots, chopped green onions, cauliflower, radishes, and tomatoes without the seeds are good fillers for your salad.
Small chopped pieces of garlic or ginger can add bit of spice to your customized salad recipe. A few tablespoons of your favorite nuts and seeds added right before serving add great texture to the salad. A few tablespoons of chick peas, chicken, or other protein source is an option, to turn this from a side item into a meal.
Dressing
Make your own dressing, using the flavors that you like.
Select 1/2 cup of your favorite oil.
3 tablespoons of vinegar
2 tablespoons of sugar
Add salt and pepper to taste
1 Top Ramen seasoning packet
Noodles
Break the noodles apart and add to hot water for 1 minute, and immediately drain. The goal is to keep the noodles crunchy. Drain well.
Mix all these ingredients and let chill for 1 hour. Before serving add your favorite toasted nuts or seeds to add further crunch. Experimenting with different greens and flavors you enjoy. Use the tips of above to create a delicious crunchy, salad.
Soup
Another way to add more taste to Top Ramen noodle soup is to add different ingredients. Add noodles to a pot with boiling water. Boil for 3 minutes, drain immediately. The noodles should be firm. Reserve 1 cup of hot water. Add the seasoning packet, and squeeze the juice of half a lemon or lime and stir. Then add the remaining liquid. Add ½ cup of chopped kale and serve immediately. Small amounts of beef, sausage, chick peas, chicken, or fish are delicious in this soup.
Add these ingredients to your healthy grocery list, and keep experimenting with new recipes often. Top Ramen is a great item to stock your pantry with. Trying new recipes often is a great way to not bore, with using basic low cost ingredients.
