Rampage Jackson Quits UFC

MMAWEEKLY.com reports Quintin "Rampage" Jackson, the former UFC light-heavyweight champion, has announced his retirement. This may come as a great surprise to many of us. In my opinion, this is a really stupid move. Rampage is a top contender at 205. He was given a second run at being coach on the extremely popular Ultimate Fighter television show and he had an upcoming fight with Rashad Evans that I assume would have paid him well. Rampage has a very likable personality and has won over many fans since coming to the UFC. At this point, trying to become a movie star is, in my opinion, a risky venture. I would be way more inclined to go see his movies if he was either still fighting or officially retired after a great career. By skipping out early, I am only left with a bad taste in my mouth.

Rampage said he was dissappointed about not getting an immediate title shot against the current title holder Lyoto Machida. I think he should be grateful he didn't get one. In my opinion, fighting Machida now would've resulted in a loss. Let him fight Shogun in the next PPV event, get more information about him, then fight Rashad. Then after those events have transpired look for the title shot. Rampage seems like the type to jump the gun. He also seems like the type to bite his nose off to spite his face. We can smell our own.

I do think that he got a great part in playing Mr T's old part in the A team. He will bring life to the character for sure. Unfortunately, he would bring in much more of an audience if he remained a part of the UFC. At this point, if he really stays retired I believe his movie career will fail. On another note, the Ultimate Fighter show is very lucky they have Kimbo Slice on there because knowing that Rampage will not fight Rashad takes away almost all the appeal of the show. Aside from Kimbo, there is nothing compelling about the show. Please change your mind Rampage!!

    LOL i think you say that because your confident he will return. He leaves a bad taste in my mouth because I want him to kick Rashad's ass. Im watching an ultimate fighter show that is suppossed to end with the two coaches fighting and they are not going to fight.

    Rampage has been fighting forever and if you say he his retirement has left a bad taste in your mouth youve only been known of Rampage fighting recently. He was a well known fighter in Pride FC and I would not doubt that he will return. I wish him the best no matter what he decides to do.

    Page will be back, he didn't leave because he doesn't want to fight anymore or because he just wants to act, he did it because he is ticked off at Dana White. He wanted the fight post-poned a month or so and instead Dana went to the press and trashed him and the movie. So he is firing back at Dana, by saying "The heck with you, I'm done" But the retirement won't last..

    I%27m so pissed he%27s leaving. I%27ve been a true fan of his since Pride and now he%27s the topfighter in his class especially after shaking the monkey off his back %28knocking out Silva%29. I know he got robbed when he lossed the title to overated Griffin but he still has unfinished business. He needs to knock out Shogun and than reclame the title. Hope he goes to Stikeforce. JACKSON won%27t be the last fighter to leave the UFC under such circumstances. Dana White is too controlling.
