Faces of the Moon

Deep into the cold, clear night

I sat restless, so I thought I might

Step beyond my limiting walls

And try my luck tonight. So on the balls

Of my feet I tip-toed cautiously

Down the stairs, and anxiously

Opened the door, to see

What the sky had for me

So in the west, I saw a view

So lovely, with such a splendid hue

No camera can possibly hope to store

For I saw the waxing moon, but wanted more

And fantasized of going there, oh perhaps

Hopping with my future wife, and taking naps

On a lunar rock while gazing at the Earth

Stillness of the Night

Midpoint of the night

A type of death our sleep is

Heavy quiet breaths

Basketball

Concentration oozes

Balanced control, clear vision

Forces the ball in

Point in time

We each live in our own tiny world

Each oblivious to most aspects of the outside

Moments float past us, while someone elses moment

Flits violently away and shocks them deep inside

At any given point, someone is being transformed

And someone is being born, and even torn from a

Loved one or relative, or someone is sworn into

A duty of sorts. Someone is flying and someone

Is diving deep below the beachgoers happily

Making tiny and fleeting memories in sand

And someone is losing a treasured possession

While another is possessed by an obsession

And some are gambling away hard-earned

Money, while some are toiling in factories that

Make the chips being tossed on the tables

It all happens continuously, a stream of constant

Movement, a stream of constant change
