Randy Moss Dumped by the Minnesota Vikings

Randy Moss was waived by the Minnesota Vikings on Mon., Nov 1st, less then one month after they acquired him for a 2011 third-round draft choice from the New England Patriots because of the absence of injured wide-out Sidney Rice and hopefully a chance for a Superbowl run.

After the Minnesota Vikings loss on Sun., to the New England Patriots, Moss went on a media rant saying among other things he will now ask his own questions and answer them himself, exclusively. He was fined $25,000 by the NFL last week for not cooperating with the media.

In his 5 minute rant, he said with no disrespect to the Vikings, he missed the New England Patriots and loved those guys.He went on to say the Minnesota Vikings coaching staff was not heeding his advice on how to handle the Patriots explosive offense. He specifically knocked head coach Childress for unsuccessfully attempting to score a 4th-down touchdown from the Patriots 1 yard line rather then kicking a field goal at the end of the first half.

Randy Moss can now be claimed by any team through 4P.M. on Tue. Nov. 2nd, providing the club is willing to accept the remainder of his 6.4 million dollar base salary for 2010, which is about 3.4 million dollars. If unclaimed Moss becomes an unrestricted free agent. Randy Moss's personality goes along with whoever may decide to pick him up, and that alone may be asking a lot.

Despite his reputation, 33 year old Randy Moss is considered one of the greatest deep threats in NFL history. He has 948 career catches for 14,778 yds. and 153 touchdowns since entering the league in 1998 with the Minnesota Vikings. He had one catch this past Sun. for 8 yds.

With the release of Randy Moss by the Minnesota Vikings, the team will probably be struggling even more. At the beginning of the season with the return of Brett Favre to the team, the Vikings had high hopes of being a winning team this season. Their hopes are dwindling though week by week because of injures and players not being able to play up to their expected potential. At this point, it's unlikely they will be in playoff contention.

The Minnesota Vikings players said they were surprised by the move to release Moss and Moss's manager said Moss was very sad to find out he was waived by the Vikings. It's a bit of a surprise to hear Moss was sad about his release from the Vikings when less then 24 hours earlier he did nothing but badmouth the team. The Vikings drama only seems to continue.
