Randy Moss has retired from the NFL after a up and down career that will probably see him in the Hall of Fame at some point. ESPN's Ryan McGee tweeted that Moss is retiring.
I guess Randy Moss didn't want to hang around after his skills have diminished and I respect him for that. After playing for three teams in 2010, Randy Moss has retired.
If Randy Moss had wanted to, he would have been the best wide receiver the NFL has ever seen. The problem is that didn't interest him very much and he admitted to taking plays off. He disappeared with the Raiders, was resurrected in New England and let his mouth get him ran out of there.
Randy Moss was probably the best deep threat wide receiver the NFL has ever seen. His over 15 yards per catch career average is high in these times of dunk and plunk. Randy Moss finished his career with 954 catches for 14,858 yards with 153 touchdown catches. Moss even ran a punt back for a touchdown with the Vikings but was too valuable to use as a full time returner. Moss also threw two touchdown passes off trick plays in his career.
Randy Moss has retired after an embarrassing 2010 NFL season which probably left a bad taste in his mouth. But I won't remember that, I will remember an amazing athlete who used to blister the Cowboys when he played them to get even for them skipping him in the draft.
Moss may have even more valuable as a decoy to get pressure away from Wes Welker while with the Patriots. Randy Moss mostly was a deep route runner who forced the defense to account for him. Moss helped many fantasy football owners in his day and was probably the first receiver drafted in those leagues for several seasons.
Randy Moss has retired after playing from 1998 until 2010 for the Vikings (twice) Raiders, Patriots and the Titans. I have to respect the fact that Moss will walk away rather than take a pay cut and not perform to his usual standards.
