The Vikings are in win now mode with an aging by the minute Brett Favre and a team owner desperate for a new stadium. I have to admit I would like to see Randy Moss and Brett Favre on the same team, even in the twilight of their careers.
The Vikings know better than to trade for Randy Moss without his blessing and a new contract. They want the productive New England version of Moss not the Oakland Raiders version that wouldn't play hard.
The Patriots have a history of trading players with a year or so left in the tank to get value, see Richard Seymour. Minnesota needs wide receiver help more than any team not named the Panthers.
Just think if Sidney Rice can come back healthy to join Percy Harvin and Randy Moss. This would put the Vikings back in the thick of Super Bowl contention in the NFC. I am not sold on their defense or offensive line for that matter but football is a momentum sport and the Vikes could catch fire.
The Patriots have shown time and time again they can replace any player and do fairly well. Against the Dolphins last Monday Night the team didn't complete a pass to Randy Moss.
With the Patriots disdain to pay anybody not named Brady (and he below value) it makes since to ship Randy Moss out. Moss will eventually become a T.O. like distraction if he isn't happy and the Patriots can get value for him now.
I think if push comes to shove the Vikings will take Moss without a contract extension and hope he plays hard to drive up his free agency value. But everything I am seeing says the team hopes to sign Randy Moss for more than one season.
I really hope the Randy Moss to the Vikings trade goes down. Brett Favre and Moss on the same team will be something to watch.
