Rap Legends Bone Thugs N Harmony to Release New Album "Uni5" Soon

The BTNH Reunion, a New Reality TV Show, and a Brand New Musical Style

Bone Thugs N Harmony has been on the rise in the charts once again. Great change is happening in the way the group will portray their music. Flesh-n-Bone was released from prison on July 13th, 2008 and the possibility of a comeback became real. Bizzy Bone reunited with the rest of the members and it is now official that there is going to be a new album coming out titled "Uni5", featuring the entire Bone Thugs N Harmony group. It will not only feature an album under their true name, but Bizzy Bone also promised that this album will make up for their absence in full form and feature a new style to their legendary rap. Something even genre-making.

Keep in mind that Wish Bone said in his interview that Uni5 is the title of the movement to bring back the group together. The actual title of the album has not been decided yet. Fans are certain however, that the project title will heavily influence the official title of the new album.

And even better is that Bone Thugs N Harmony are also working on a reality show called "Living in Harmony," and it will be about the group in their mansion and the events that follow as Flesh is released from prison. It is almost done shooting and Bizzy said it will be on the air as soon as possible.

Here's how it happened.

After Flesh-n-Bone was released, Bizzy Bone, after having left the group to have a solo career, decided to return to the group after a long absence. Rumors and controversy persisted over their breakup but the members of the group never hesitated to answer in their music. Bizzy Bone may have had issues with the rest of the group but nothing ever came between their respect for each other.

Albums have been released by Bizzy Bone and Krayzie Bone, including mixtapes, remixes, and independent albums. Layzie and Wish continued to be featured in tracks with Akon and many other popular artists. Krayzie Bone even went back to the reggae spiritual roots of their group's style, remixing with Bob Marley's music in his song "Rebel Music," one of many in his mixtape albums.

Bizzy Bone was enthusiastic in his interview on hiphopdx.com, about detailing everything they've done so far with the new album project, Uni5. The excitement is high with acclaimed producers such as LP Dogg, Krayzie Bone, Damon Elliot, Anthony Cowan (aka Scott Scorch). There may be a possibility that Dr. Dre and Akon will also be part of the production of the album. The scope of the project is going to be large.

When asked how far much they worked on the album, Bizzy said, "We've recorded 10-20 records already, so we're just in there vibing with each other and feeling the music out, and just putting everything where it needs to be and just staying productive while we're doing different things; so we're in the process. We plan on recording 100 to 200 tracks..."

He also said that they will have a brand new style of music to bring to the table, but was secretive of any details. It will be about the group returning to the world after a generation of absence, with something new to offer to the world.

When is this new album going to be released?

No official release date has been confirmed by the group. However, many fans would agree that it will most likely hit the stores during Christmas time 2008 or early in the new year of 2009. The bottom line is that it is going to be on the shelves soon.

It will definitely be a busy year for the group, but they haven't stopped working. Many fans remember the movie they made called "I Tried," in 2007, featuring the paths their lives would have taken if they did not meet Eazy E. Although it did not make mainstream popularity, it became an instant cult hit, going Platinum in DVD sales at Amazon. It featured Krayzie, Layzie, and Wish Bone. Sales will definitely spike as news of Uni5 goes out and fans realize they can see the legendary rappers in real form.

But perhaps most surprising is the reality TV show that Bone Thugs will be working on, Living in Harmony. It is a clear message to the world - which will tell the story of what happened before they have reunited and what will happen after they've come back. The year 2009 is indeed going to be the comeback year of Bone Thugs N Harmony.

The world will never forget their dominance in rap in the 1990's. They are the only artists alive to do acts with Tupac, Big Pun, Notorius B.I.G, and Eazy E while they were still alive. They've been renowned for the being the fastest rappers in the world.

Fans who grew up as their music evolved in the early 90's (especially in the midwestern US) and beyond can never forget their unique style of rap. Flow, lyrical power, and righteous fury that exploded out of their tracks of harmonizing beats. Many would agree today that the rap genre has never been the same since their departure from mainstream music - as well as other legendary artists of their time.

We can only wait to see what Uni5 and the new year will bring to Bone Thugs N Harmony.

Perhaps it will lead us onto a decade with another golden age in rap music.
