Rape is defined as; a person forces another person to have sex against their will.
How to file the Police report
This is a very serious crime where a lot of care goes into the investigation. If you are a victim of rape call 9-1-1 or if you are able to, go into your nearest Police station for help.
You are a victim in the jurisdiction where the Rape occurred.
As a victim you can go to the Police station in person or have the Police respond to your location to help you, conduct the investigation and take a report.
What you need to file the report
The collection of evidence is critical so, if possible, get to the Police right away. Put any of the clothes you were wearing, including under clothes, into a paper bag (not plastic) and bring them with you, the Police will book them into evidence and have them analyzed. Do not shower so any evidence on your body will not be washed away.
Provide the Police with a full complete account of what happened and any suspect information you might have. No matter how little you may think any information you have about the attack, tell the Police.
Why file a report
You are filing this report for several reasons. First, the suspect will be brought to justice and held accountable for the crime he has committed. He will be put in prison so no one else will ever be hurt by this person.
By filing the report, it means that you are not going through this terrible ordeal on your own and together with an army of Police, medical and social personal you can begin to rebuild your life and put closure to this crime.
