Rappelz: Successful Dungeon Party Order of Attack

In this MMORPG, Know When to Say When

Paul Bright
I used to come extremely prepared before participating in Rappelz dungeon parties. I brought a lot of everything but found myself using only half of what I needed. And I also found that other players had all they needed but didn't know when to use it. Even worse was when players knew what their roles were but didn't follow them. Needless to say my characters lost multiple levels in those parties.

Having said that, I have also witnessed and been a part of dungeon parties that work like a well oiled machine. If everyone knows their roles- puller, tank (primary and secondary), healer, buffer, damage dealer and chipper- a dungeon party can maximize a gain of experience points, job level points and prize drops with very little level loss or death. The following is the most perfect order a dungeon party can follow for maximum success:

First, the puller runs in and grabs the mob (or mobs) with arrows if he is a bow fighter or by touching the mob(s). Ranged fighters like archers, striders and chaos magicians can even hit multiple mobs before running, given that they are often far away from mobs when attacking. It is highly recommended that the puller drink a quick potion before pulling because, although they have high range, the attack speed of an archer or bow fighter is slow. One the mobs are pulled, pullers should back to the party towards the tank.

The tank will then use his "aggro" skill and cause all the mobs to flock towards him. As the mobs head towards the tank. Tanks should already have the highest level of armor worn because he's going to take a lot of damage from one or more mobs. Tanks should also make sure he has healing potions in the quick command boxes just in case the healer doesn't heal him in time for whatever reason.

The chipper will cast a chip on the closest mob hitting the tank. Chippers should make sure that a) they cast the right chips and b) they even have chips ready to cast. Luna Chips are great if the party is using spell casters in addition to people causing physical damage. They cost more but they are highly effective.

Once the chip is cast, all damage dealers (DDs) and additional party members will attack the mob with the chip. Everyone except the primary healer should be attacking the chipped mob. Once he is defeated, the chipper will chip the next closest mob to the tank; everyone will attack that mob. The process repeats until all the mobs are gone.

The healer, who is keeping a healthy distance from everyone, must monitor the tank's health first and then everyone else's. If he's running low on magic points to cast healing spells, he will ask for an MP break before the next round of attacks. He will also check to see if anyone needs buffs.

When the mob or mobs are down to near death, the puller should then go towards another group of mobs, bring them in, and repeat the actions. If the mobs get past the tank, the additional tank will chase them before they hit the healer. If random mobs attack the healers or anyone else with low physical defense, someone should say "add", which stands for additional mobs. At that point the party member with add mobs should run towards a tank with aggro skills in order to get rid of that mob.

It is recommended that the healer or puller go and collect the treasures left behind from the defeated mobs. It isn't uncommon for players in Rappelz to play dirty and "loot" parties while they aren't looking or are too busily occupied taking on mobs. There is a protection system already in Rappelz to prevent it because people attempting to pick up treasures that they didn't earn usually have to wait two minutes before they can do so.

Sometimes dungeon party members in Rappelz need to take breaks to handle personal business like getting food, using the bathroom, or changing a diaper. If you have to break, announce it to the party with things like "brb" or "afk" instead of just leaving- unless it is a really dirty diaper. This way the puller knows not to pull mobs towards you if you are the tank and the tank knows not to expect you to heal if you are the healer.

If everyone focuses on their roles and keeps communication going when they need something or are taking a break, dungeon parties running in this order can acquire massive amounts of goods in very little time.
