Rapper Lil' Wayne Arrested
Lil' Wayne, born Dwayne Carter, Jr., along with Harold Johnson, Jr., 23, and Curtis Stewart, 24, were traveling in a bus along with 8 others along the interstate near Dateland, AZ. At this inspection point, a Border Patrol Checkpoint, Wayne's bus was searched by K-9's.
"The K-9 Unit found multiple types of drugs, as well as currency, and firearms," according to DEA spokeswoman Ramona Sanchez, "One of the firearms, a .44 caliber pistol was registered to Mr. Carter. He did have a concealed weapon permit from Florida, but we are investigating whether it violates any Arizona laws."
According to Sanchez the K-9 unit also found 105 grams of marijuana, about 29 grams of cocaine, 41 grams of ecstasy and $20,000 in cash.
Lil' Wayne was charged with possession of cocaine and ecstasy and possession of drug paraphernalia while the other two were just charged with possession of marijuana.
This is not the first time Lil' Wayne has been arrested. He was arrested in July of 2007 for weapons and drug charges. Just like that night he was arrested with drugs and weapons this morning.
Snoop Dogg plead no contest last year to drug and weapons charges o avoid jail time. In exchange for his ple he received 5 years' probation and 800 hours of community ervice as opposed to a one-year prison sentence.
One of the more famous cases of rappers being arrested isRapper T.I' arrest on weapons charges. He is still on house arrest awaiting trial on weapons charges. He was charged with two felonies, possession of three unregistered machine guns and two silencers and possessions of firearms by a convicted felon. T.I. posted a $3 million bond and was released from jail on house arrest and his next hearing is scheduled for February 19th.
