Access Hollywood is reporting that despite reports that producer and rapper Timbaland tried to commit suicide Tuesday he is alive and well and doesn't know what the fuss is about. A representative for the Los Angeles County sheriff's department told Access Hollywood they were only contacted to locate Timbaland, real name Timothy Mosley, after his family reported he left in a upset state after finding items missing from his home.

Timbaland's family reported him missing after he came home and found jewelry missing and became angry and started yelling. After several hours his family called the police to say they were worried about him.

Rumors quickly surfaced in the media and on Twitter there was a manhunt for Timbaland using foot and air search and that police had said he was suicidal. Officials with the sheriff's office said the rumors of a manhunt were "significantly overblown" and they only used a helicopter to locate the star because it was already flying in the Malibu area, where Timbaland was eventually pulled over.

Authorities said they have taken a police report of the stolen items and are investigating.

This morning the story became even bigger news after Ryan Seacrest told listeners on his radio morning show, "On Air With Ryan Seacrest," that he was told by a friend Timbaland had attempted suicide before being found by police.

Ryan used Twitter later Wednesday to tweet, "Got word my friend timbaland attempted suicide. I am hearing now that is not true that [he] is ok!!" Timbaland took the opportunity to call into Ryan Seacrest's show later int eh day to clear up the false reports saying, "I don't even know what happened. To be honest with you, I don't even know what [people] are talking about."

While Timbaland did state it was not jewelry missing from his house, someone did steal something of significance to him and he became very emotional about it and went for a drive.

He went on to explain, "The only thing I did was take a drive to figure out how I'm gonna handle it. They probably thought cuz I wasn't talking, so I guess people got worried. What I tell people is, if my mom ain't calling, or my brother, or my best friend, then ain't nothing to worry about."

Timbaland confirmed that he was pulled over by the police who wanted to do a well being check, but said he never tried to commit suicide. "Why would I commit suicide? I just got back from the studio, I don't know how a person who commits suicide can be in the studio. I'm just finishing up Keri's album, Keri Hilson's."
