Landing firmly on a platform
Boldly screeching, wise words to declare
Other birds sit on the fence
Afraid to make a move
Let other birds form their stance
Their plumage, some birds change
Their power and voice
Swayed by influence in a certain range
Is there an eagle in our midst
A leader to believe in
A neo-politician, a rara avis
Are they all just a vulture insider
Same old, same old
Just another partisan glider
Obama appears just a chick
McCain is more of the same
Clinton just makes me sick
An eagle with real clout
Practicing what he preaches
Is Ron Paul the rara avis, there are doubts
Will the next group of turkeys make any difference
Would you prefer
To cast a vote of no confidence
Our flock of seagulls
Is all we have
Lord, please send us a few eagles

I haven't missed a voting day since I registered, 36 years ago, ( I always say that if one doesn't vote, they shouldn't complain )..... Like you I'm very disheartened by the choices we are left with. But, being from Florida, what bothers me more is that the bill that was introduced by our republican senators,to have our primaries early, was tacked on to a bill concerning a subject that would have been political suicide for any of them to vote against. The Dems asked that the two be separated, but to no avail. So, to vote for one, meant that they were voting for both, hence the vote was for and not against. My problem with this is that , one of the biggest voter turnouts that Florida has ever seen, might be disregaurded on the democratic side. This is not the American way! Florida and Michigan deserve better than this. And to use taxpayer money to pay for another vote is totally unacceptable. Im not happy with the choices that are left....sigh...I guess its down to picking who I think is the lesser of the three evils.
Very witty poem. My favorite choices have long left the presidential contest. Nonetheless, it is very important to cast your vote for the next president.
Very witty poem. I still believe it is important to vote. My favorite candidates bit the dust some time ago. I liked Dodd, Biden, Richardson, and Edwards. Unfortunately, they did not have the "star" power.
