Around 1992, fans witness what was to be the best Batman animated feature ever on local television. The show was simply called "Batman: The Animated Series" or "BTAS" for short. The show's mammoth success led to the release of the ever so popular Batman figures that are now considered highly collectible. The first animated line of Batman action figures from Kenner would feature prominent villains such as Mr. Freeze, The Penguin, The Joker, and the Riddler. I remember owning several figures from this popular line and they were incredible accurate to their animated counterparts. The first figure was the combat belt Batman that included an assortment of accessories. Batman's iconic grappling hook was one of them along with a pair of golden handcuffs. The second figure from this series I remember owning was Robin. This, in my opinion, was the best Robin figure ever designed. The figure came with a large yellow glider that fired toy missiles.
The "Animated Series" figures from Kenner may not be in found in stores anymore, but if you go to www.eBay.com, you will surely find them at affordable prices. Some auctions have them starting at an absurd 99 cents and some actually start out at twenty dollars. The Combat Belt Batman is indeed one of the rarest Batman figures from the toy line. It rarely sells for a reasonable price, but there are other Batman figures from the same line that typically sell for three dollars such as the Knight Star Batman action figure.
