Rashard Mendenhall: Was He Wrong Tweeting What He Thinks About the Death of Osama Bin Laden on Twitter
Rashard Mendenhall and His Tweets Caused a Stir on Twitter
President Obama announced late Sunday night that twenty-five elite Navy Seals had indeed killed Osama Bin Laden in his mansion in Abbottabad in North West Pakistan. Osama Bin Laden was the mastermind behind the attack nearly ten years ago on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
With the news of Bin Laden's death people took to social media outlets such as Twitter to voice how they were feeling about a major accomplishment the Navy Seals pulled off. Twitter users were happy and ecstatic that Bin Laden was dead after all these years and that the United States government was correct in taking his life as Bin Laden had done so many innocent people. Rashard Mendenhall had a different opinion than others.
Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall also took to Twitter to voice his opinion on the death of Osama Bin Laden. Mendenhall tweeted @R_Mendenhall "What kind of person celebrates death? It's amazing how people can HATE a man they have never even heard speak. We've only heard one side." The second tweet stated, "We'll never know what really happened on September 11th. I just have a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style."
For fans of the Steelers Mendenhall's comments seem non-American and hurtful. Steelers President Art Rooney said, "I have not spoken with Rashard, so it is hard for me to explain or even comprehend what he meant with his recent twitter comments. The entire Steelers organization is very proud of the job our military personnel have done and we can only hope this leads to our troops coming home soon."
Was Rashard Mendenhall wrong in tweeting what was on his mind about the death of Osama Bin Laden? He is entitled to his first amendment rights of freedom of speech just as everyone else on twitter. No one should be condemned for stating what he or she think much less criticized. Everyone is entitled to his or her own personal opinion.
However, after what Bin Laden has done through the years justice was served and instead of a boot in his ass he got some lead in his ass from a few heroes called the Navy Seals. Hats off to the one that pulled the trigger. He is the real hero in Osama Bin Laden's death.
What do you think about Rashard Mendenhall and his comments on Twitter?

Rashard has the right to speak his mind, but I'm surprised that he would tweet such an unpopular opinion. He had to know there would be negative repurcussions!
