Rasmussen Shows Rick Perry Ahead in Polls Over Obama and Other GOP Candidates

Lorraine Yapps Cohen

I can say I said so, but don't take my word. A Rasmussen poll shows Rick Perry in the lead over Obama!

Perry surges ahead
A telephone poll conducted by the reputable Rasmussen puts Perry at 44% of the likely vote compared to Obama's 41%. This not only puts Perry ahead of the President, but also in front of other GOP hopefuls.

Just a week ago, Perry trailed Obama by three percentage points. At the rate that Perry is climbing, no percentage points will be left for Obama by election time. Oh, that it were so. But we'll see.

Guys for Perry

An interesting gender phenomenon is that "Perry leads by nine among men but trails by five among women," according to the poll. This suggests that gals continue the enchantment with the President's teleprompter charisma. Perhaps the ladies see some redemption from social policies that try but fail to improve the human condition.

Guys, on the other hand, see real leadership as Perry's potential, right along with a bona fide track record of achievement in areas that go beyond the go-nowhere touchy-feely of "community organizing."

Over 30 for Perry

Perry leads among voters over 30. Obama takes the crowd that turns ancient at 30. No surprise there. We were all hippies, idealists or socialists, even SDS members, after the war or in college. But let living and earning a living change that around. Soup kitchens and cannabis clinics show little allure any more. A free-market economy and capitalism take on growing importance as our years grow to golden.

Non-union for Perry

The poll concedes the lead, by a lot, to Obama from union members. Not surpisingly, Perry leads among non-union voters. Not surprisingly, those with their hands out will want to support the man who pays them to stay home. You would too, if the welfare state doled out income you didn't earn.

Working Americans

But for those Americans who find pride in their own accomplishments, who want the exceptional America they grew up in back, and who want to get back to work, to produce, to make something of themselves to their fullest potential......well, these are the folks who put Perry on top of the polls today.

    He certainly is interesting.

Mike, Perry is being "vetted" right now. Once the MSM and liberal left are done digging up trivia on the man, they'll see that achievements in job creation and fiscal responsibility will raise Perry above it all...and America right along with him.

Some very interesting poll numbers here. If I remember correctly, they seem to parallel those of George W. Bush at this same point in the in 2000 election cycle. I find it interesting that Perry seems to be coming under increasingly vitriolic attacks from both the left and right... like Bush, he's being called "an idiot" and having "no-clue." As you have pointed out, Perry must be the candidate everyone fears... Excellent article, thanks!

Some of us would like to a) pay for our own medical care, b) believe we are not owed a paycheck we didn't work for, and c) want only the money back that Social Security forced us to put in. But that's not all of us, is it?

If you think Social Security, Medicare and unemployment compensation are probably unconstitutional, vote for Perry..... If you want a minimum wage job with no benefits, move to Texas.

Oh golly, we have an election coming up in a couple of weeks and I can only stare at the choices and wonder where the good people went to. And believe it or not,I have only seen campaign hoopla for one of the candidates and it is all mud from the other side.
