Rate My Professors: A Helpful Site for College Students and Professors
What Are Some of the Features on Rate My Professors that Can Help College Students Out?
One of the things that makes Rate My Professors so great is the numeric grading system found on the website. Students rate professors based on easiness, clarity, and helpfulness. In addition, the website also allows for students to list a score for overall interest in the class and/or subject. This allows for students to see an average score for each professor they research on the website. Seeing grading in numeric form provides a good basis for evaluation, as every professor is "graded" on the same scale.
Comments are also welcomed on Rate My Professors, and many students who use the site opt to leave comments. While the comments are monitored carefully, students are mostly truthful and tend to tell their true opinions of the course. This is because the website does not list a username by the review; therefore, strong criticism is encouraged for all.
You're probably wondering, "How can Rate My Professors help me as a college student?" There are many benefits to using the website every time course registration comes around. First, the website is extremely helpful for big, general knowledge courses in your freshman and sophomore years. Many ratings tend to be left for the big lecture classes (or if you're at a small college, your introductory courses), so the student can get a straightforward and true averaged review of the professor he/she is interested in taking from.
In addition, many colleges and universities require that students take these general knowledge courses. Rate My Professors allows students the chance to branch out and take general knowledge courses in areas they may not be as familiar with.
Rate My Professors can also help with just knowing beforehand what you're getting into. You definitely don't want to get stuck with a brand new professor in that 600-level class that you've signed up for, but at least you'll know if there is a better course time/professor out there. The site can help to eliminate any uncertainly about going into an already difficult class.
All in all, Rate My Professors is a great website for all students alike. The website is http://www.ratemyprofessors.com.

Post a CommentCompletely agree. Great or at least decent professors really think this is a good thing. Check out the following article which is written by a professor.

some sites also provide difficulty statistics on individual college courses now, like www.gradeabase.com
I had heard of this website before but never used it...I may be consumed with it now, leaving my ratings. After four semesters, I know a lot of the professors on my small campus. A lot of the comments left behind are exactly what I hear from others about the professors :)
I would recommend www.inkampus.com for course ratings.
In Ratemyprof site, its possible that the same prof can rate himself/herself very highly from different computers and there is no way to prevent this. Check out their forum for more details.
