Rats as Big as Cats

Stephen Joltin
African rats are as big as cats
Four pounds or more not counting their hats.
Dressed in three piece suites, white shirts and ties
They carry walking sticks, for effect, as they stroll by.

They wear four oxford shoes to protect their feet
They're impeccably dressed when seen on the street.
No sewer rats they, don't think such a thought
They wear the finest evening wear, which can be bought.

While not known for their dancing, they'll still cut a rug
Do an adequate waltz and a slick jitterbug.
One almost won first place on Dance With The Stars
But got snockered that evening at the neighborhood bars.

The capybara is larger by far than their African kin
Just don't expect much from them at a hotel or inn.
They'll just go to the whirlpool and quickly dive in.
Maybe nip off a toe and go for a swim.

A capy is fine for a swamp dwelling guy.
But for a Sauvé guy like you only an African will do.

You know you're in trouble when the rats are as big as your cat.
