Ravens Defense - Takeaways, Not Turnovers

The Dolphins ran through the season playing clean, mistake-free, hard-nosed football; old fashioned Bill Parcells football.

Parcells must have cringed watching the Ravens force 5 turnovers on Sunday afternoon.

All season long, Chad Pennington placed perfect passes, laser shots into the laps of his receivers. Today, he was rattled, hurried, and forced into bad play after bad play. Ravens LB Ray Lewis said it best in a post-game interview when he said, "We don't worry about who we're playing, we just worry about us...the bottom line is, we're going to find a way to get to you, and we're going to find a way to turn the ball over."

An interesting clip popped up on the screen in the middle of the fourth quarter. It proclaimed that the game was comprised of "takeaways not turnovers". This wasn't a product of a Miami offense that wasn't ready. When their plays worked, they worked.

The outcome of this game falls into the hands of Baltimore's defense, which did exactly what it was built to do - dominate in every phase of the game.

On the offensive side, the Baltimore Ravens did what the Dolphins had done all season by playing mistake-free football and playing a physical game. Though the Ravens committed one turnover, it only accounted for 3 of the Dolphins' points after the defense (again) held.

With the Baltimore Ravens sealing up a trip to Nashville next Sunday, it's hard to predict an outcome, but it's really tough to imagine the Ravens defense allowing anything to the Titans.
