Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce Set to Close

The Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce, located at 1756 West Wilson Avenue in Chicago's Ravenswood neighborhood, could shut its doors as early as February 2011. Patricia Martinelli, acting Executive Director told Center Square Journal, the Chamber may be dissolved by next year. Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce began in 1986, however, they ceased holding events in August of 2010.

Every year, the Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce puts on its Dash Down Damen, however, it was suspiciously absent from the calender this year. In addition to the elimination of the "Dash" event, the annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony was also not held. According to their website, the Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce is "a growing, vibrant organization that reflects the strength of its community." Patricia Martinelli also goes on to say that "we're working on how to do this and figure out some of the options we're going to have."

The tentative closing may have stemmed from mounting debt.
