Blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar for both of us, greatly improved! And we're down 50 pounds between the two of us! Our skin is better, our eyes shine with vitality, hair is shiny and thick, and there's more umph in our sex life. I keep hearing this little bell go off in my head that says, 'hey dummy, this is how you're suppose to eat'. At this point we're about 80% raw. We haven't had the nerve to eat steak tartar or sushi but we're working our way to that.
There are great resources online, as with everything. I think my favorite is rawgourmet.com. This site is operated by a person named Nomi Shannon. I like this site because it seems a bit more down to earth than some of the other sites. Her recipes include ingredients that most people can purchase locally. Some of the other sites have recipes with ingredients that I have never heard of and have no idea where to get them.
Perhaps if I lived in California I'd be familiar with these things but since I'm in the Midwest my resources to the more exotic are limited. Ms. Shannon also puts out a newsletter and an introductory series to get you started in the raw food world. I found this to be a great help. I might also mention that I have no connection with this person, don't actually know if it's a man or a woman, just found the site very helpful.
One other very important thing to mention is that you want your raw foods to be organic. I don't think any of us want to ingest chemicals. That just makes sense. I try to buy as much produce locally from farmer's markets that I can. Since I'm in the Midwest that does pose a problem in the winter.
We're fortunate in that many of our local grocery stores are now carrying a large supply of organic foods. I also grow my own sprouts. They are so easy and the nutritional value is phenomenal. My favorite site for sprout supplies and instructions is, sproutpeople.com.
I would encourage everyone to try to eat more raw foods. Your body will so thank you for it!
