Raw Juicing for Engery

Leslie Jones McCloud
Waking up with Morning Joe and a glass of mean green is a good thing. I mixed kale, mustard, turnip and collard greens, ginger and radishes into a great morning pick-me-up. I added a cube of frozen wheat grass for that extra burst of power and whooo-weee, I woke up instantly and started on my housework.

I did not have to take my multi-vitamin or chromium or coffee or tea but only raw juice. The only bummer thing is that my Bullet Express is conking out. It does not juice kale and the greens well. Maybe I should juice a little at a time. I don't know.

I make a big pitcher of raw juice and encourage my children to partake. Rounding out a good breakfast for winter would be a bowl of whole grain oatmeal or grits. It's always a great idea to up the fiber content of one's diet, with or without the juicing.

I will mix their juice with diet soda sometimes just to get it down their gullets! Raw juice won't help you if it is left sitting in the glass. To be honest I add either carbonated water or diet soda (like cherry 7UP) to get it down in the morning sometimes so that I drink more of it.

I just read that wheat grass aids in appetite suppression and since adding wheat grass, I noticed I didn't have to take my Dexatrim yesterday. If you are busy through the day, you usually don't have time to nibble. Bringing raw juice in a discreet thermos is a great way to keep energy levels up.

I also used cabbage in a juice recipe. I found it pleasant. It is supposed to help with stomach problems. I used the pulp for cole slaw and I'm going to season it and make the children egg rolls. The egg roll wrappers are available at my local grocer and at Super Wal-Mart and County Market.

I truly praise the Lord for finding out about juicing. It has helped me tremendously in the amount of stamina and energy I have to get housework done. A woman's day starts early and goes long sometimes and coffee tends to give me the jitters so juicing is the greatest thing ever to me. I still have my Sumatra coffee beans, however.
