Joey Chestnut won the annual July Fourth hot dog eating contest on Coney Island in New York. But his former rival, Takeru Kobayashi, was arrested after he jumped on the stage after Chestnut won. CLICK HERE TO VIEW RAW VIDEO AND PHOTOS OF THE ARREST.

Kobayashi was not participating over a contract dispute. Kobayashi took issue over a clause in the competition's contract that limited his participation in other hot dog eating competitions. The annual Fourth of July event is sponsored by the hot-dog maker, Nathan's. It is officially called Nathan's International Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Chestnut, is from San Jose and is a native of Vallejo, California, about a hour outside San Francisco. He won by stuffing down 54 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

It was the fourth year in a row that Chestnut won.

Kobayashi was watching as Chesnut won again. He went onto the stage after the competition was over, apparently in an attempt to grab some of the limelight for himself. Police hauled him off and took him into custody.

Kobayashi won the competition six times. Click here to view two videos. The first two are raw videos. The first video below shows him when he jumped up on stage. The second video show him in handcuffs being taken away.
