Rayn Handmade Clothing Store Review

Robin Haws
These days it's more important than ever that we are aware of our earth and being proactive to save it. I'm a big fan of recycling and reusing things. I often shop for my children at thrift stores simply to help reduce our carbon footprints. Hand-me-downs are a big deal in our family, as well. Until recently, I had never heard the term "upcycling". Upcycling is the commonly used phrase for "making old things new again" and I love it. Altering and revamping slightly used clothing to create an entirely different piece not only means something has been recycled for reuse but, it also means that you and I can get fantastic one of a kind items.

One of the cutest places I've found for upcycled childrens' clothing is Rayn Handmade on Etsy. The super creative mom behind the designs is Christa. She's been inspired by her daughter and it shows. Her goal is to create amazing clothing while doing her part to protect the earth her daughter will one day inherit. It's nice to know there are moms out there willing to toss aside the unending quest for brand names and make affordable and stylish little kid clothes while doing their part to save our environment. Like most moms, I enjoy dressing my daughter in one of a kind pieces. With a shop like Rayn Handmade it is super easy to find awesome items that I'll never see another little girl wearing.

We received a Kitschy Bum Cover and an adorable tank dress "upcycled" using pieces from recycled tshirts. Both are unbelievably cute. The dress and the bum cover were one of a kind custom pieces and both are extremely well made. The ruffles on the dress and bum cover are all made from tshirts. The tshirt that was used for the ruffles on the dress was a breast cancer awareness shirt. When my daughter wears this dress she looks adorable but, we're also supporting so many wonderful causes. You'll find many readily available items to purchase in the Rayn shop but, I highly recommend custom ordering.

Aside from the upcycled little girl clothing you'll find some really fun vintage piecesover at Rayn. As much as I like digging through junk shops for good vintage finds, sometimes I just don't have the time. A shop like Rayn Handmade takes the digging part out and puts the cool vintage pieces right in front of you.

Rayn Handmade is a shop located at Etsy.com. Etsy is a marketplace for sellers of handmade and vintage items. The attention they've brought to the handmade market is amazing. Handmade artisans should always be celebrated and supported. If we are lucky, handmade and vintage "upcycling" will do it's part to save our future, both environmentally and economically.
