Razzie Nominations 2010 Further Mock Transformers, Sandra Bullock

Robert Dougherty
The Razzie nominations 2010 continue a pre-Oscar tradition. Basically, the Razzie nominations 2010 honor some of the year's worst work, the day before the year's best work is selected. In at least one case, there is a frontrunner for both a Razzie and an Oscar this year. Yet there are many other unlucky nominees like Sandra Bullock, as the Razzie nominations 2010 provide one last slam at the year's most despised films.

As usual, there were no shortage of awful movies and performances to choose from. The very existence of Transformers, Land of the Lost, Eddie Murphy, Will Ferrell and more guaranteed them a place on the list. Some others got a Razzie nomination 2010 for not only this year, but for the entire decade.

To start off, the five worst pictures of the year are Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Land of the Lost, Old Dogs, All About Steve, and G.I. Joe. Each film received a lot of scorn and hate, though Transformers still managed to be the biggest pre-Avatar film of the year, making it the Razzie favorite.

The Razzie nominations 2010 are also highlighted by an Oscar favorite. Tomorrow, Sandra Bullock will likely receive her first Oscar nod for The Blind Side, capping off a year where she had two box office hits. But in between The Proposal and The Blind Side, she made All About Steve, in which Bullock got the worst reviews of her career.

Given her Blind Side awards success, and her big 2009 in general, most have forgotten Bullock made All About Steve - or are still trying to forget. However, if she wins both an Oscar and a Razzie this year, it will be harder to brush aside.

Bullock's competition includes Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, Megan Fox and Sarah Jessica Parker. For Worst Actor, reeling comedy icons Will Ferrell, Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy face John Travolta and the Jonas Brothers.

The Razzie nominations 2010 may actually have tighter acting races than half of the ones at the Oscars. But this year, the show goes a bit further, by also honoring the worst of the decade. Former winners like Battlefield Earth, Gigli, Freddy Got Fingered, I Know Who Killed Me and Swept Away return to the race for Worst Picture of the Decade.

Murphy and Travolta became double nominees with Worst Actor of the Decade, against Mike Myers, Ben Affleck and Rob Schneider. Worst Actress of the Decade brings infamous icons like Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Mariah Carey, Madonna and Jennifer Lopez together.

For all the awfulness of the last decade, the Razzie nominations 2010 reflected how it ended with some particularly notable dreck. All About Steve, Transformers, G.I. Joe and Land of the Lost led the way with five nominations, while Old Dogs and New Moon settled for four. Tearing apart these disasters, and giving them awards for their ineptitude, may turn out to be more fun than the Oscars themselves.

With the Razzie nominations 2010 out, the race is out to pull out a victory. The infamous contenders will learn their fate on March 6, when the 30'th annual Razzies are presented the night before the Oscars. Perhaps Bullock will stop by to pick up her first award of the weekend on that night.
