R&B singer Akon was charged with second degree harassment and a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a minor. These charges stem from an incident that occurred at a New York concert in June in which a fan from the audience at the concert threw something on to the stage. It is not clear exactly what was thrown, but it agitated Akon enough for him to stop the show and ask who threw it. At that time a member of the security team pointed out a fifteen year old boy. Akon then requested that members of security put the boy on the stage with him. When the boy was put on stage, Akon hoisted the boy up on his shoulders and preceded to throw him off of the stage.
The boy fell into a girl that was in the audience, causing her to fall the the floor. The girl was also a minor and she later went to a doctor to have her injuries assessed. The doctor who examined her diagnosed her with a concussion. Akon is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, December third to face the charges.
Akon is a R&B singer with Convict Records with many hit songs. For example, Smack That! with rapper Eminem and I Wanna Love You with gangster rapper Snoop Dogg.
