RCA DRC275 HDMI DVD Player Review

The RCA DRC275 is a neat little DVD player that you can buy for under $50 bucks. Described as the perfect companion for HDTV it is an HDMI DVD player with support for 1080 pixels. The RCA DRC275 is sleek and small and will fit wherever you want it to in your home. It does not have support for blu-ray disks. It will play burned DVDs as well as burned CDs which is a plus. Some DVD Players do not support playing from burnt disk. That means you can watch copies of your favorite movie if your original is too scratched, or home movies of your own family on the RCA DRC275 DVD player.

It supposedly has HD upconversion, with converts your movies into HD, but I am a little skeptical of that. While this may be true, you will not see any difference in a poor quality grainy old movie. So don't get your hopes up there, also it has HD resolution, which supposedly allows you to watch your regular DVDs in HD as well. RCA is a great company that has been making quality electronics for a long time. RCA makes everything from voice recorders to TVS and their DVD players are usually the best. I am a little skeptical of this one though, because I can just plug my computer into my TV and use it as a DVD player. So I truly want something more from my DVD player then just a regular old DVD player.

The one thing that really makes me mad about the RCA DRC275 DVD player is that it doesn't come with the HDMI cable, this cable cost about $10. Why wouldn't it come with the cable you ask? Well it has become a sort of standard these days not to include the precious HDMI cable in the box. This is outright ridiculous. If I am going to purchase an HD DVD player, it better have the HDMI cable with it. That is the only thing I really dislike about this DVD player. With out the HDMI cable it really is just a regular DVD player with the regular AV cords and a regular picture.

In conclusion, the RCA DRC275 is a nice little DVD player you can buy for about $45 dollars. You can get one even cheaper off of eBay still new in the box. It does not come with the HDMI cable so keep that in mind when you are shopping for a DVD player for your home that has support for HD TV.
