Read My Lips

A Valentine's Day Poem

G.L. Morrison
Read my lips.

Unwritten there: a kiss for you,

unfinished poems, the hopeful future,

conversations unbegun.

Read my lips.

A word is waiting on them

pursed into the skin.

My lips, oyster shells

wait in the watery dark,

on my tongue a word

round as a pearl.

"Yes."
