The guys over at Baked, a Red Hook bakery, have just published their second collection of goodies, "Baked Explorations: Classic American Desserts." Each recipe adds their unique flair to the classics we all know and love.

Just over two years ago, the dynamic baking duo, Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafito, released "Baked," another collection of classic recipes ranging from pies to brownies to biscuits. This time around, the classic recipes are those that many of us have crumbled up and thrown away.

Take the grasshopper pie, for instance. This dessert has been around since the 1950s but many people just get it wrong.

The cookbook features 75 recipes that range from desserts that can be eaten in the morning through the late-night hours. The Baked twist is to punch up the flavors and play with the basic idea of the dessert.

To celebrate the release of their sophomore effort, Lewis and Poliafito will be serving up desserts and doing a reading, of sorts, at the Greenlight Bookstore in Fort Greene on November 16. Their Baked twist on a reading involves simple discussions about the recipes, not just reading those instructions.

The Greenlight Bookstore is located at 686 Fulton Street at South Portland. The reading will take place on November 16 at 7:30 PM. The event is free.
