A commemoration of the 100th birthday anniversary of Ronald W. Reagan.
His grin was a rugged and as wide as the California coast.
His smile was a splash of red, white and blue.
His manner was ready and natural as his stride in the saddle and the gait of his step.
He exuded life, counting today as a gift and tomorrow as an uncanceled check made out to "hope" and endorsed by "daring" and "trust."
He courted momentous events and managed events of the moment with equal aplomb.
His wit was as engaging and quick as the spirit of America itself.
Yet, he could dig his heels in hard for principle's sake. He weathered partisan winds and the huff and puff of petty politics, splitting differences like cords of wood.
He was involved as America's president and its foremost citizens, as well.
His manner was easy and ego-free; yet, he was ever the Commander in Chief.
His tenure in that "shining city on the hill" glowed with the fire of his dream for America and his flinty resolve to see its promise through.
His legacy resides in a renewal of patriotic pride, in a bracing salute to things American and in the ultimate triumph of character and civil accord.
Now he is consigned to history and to heaven as well as to the grateful hearts of the nation he served with honor and unabashed esteem.
May God bless him; may God bless America.
