Real Christmas Trees Vs. Fake Christmas Trees - 5 Reasons to Go Fake

Get an "Authentic Imatation" Christmas Tree

Ray Sanchez
Every year, right after thanksgiving, I notice those Christmas tree stands being setup on the way home from work. I imagine the smell of the Douglas fir in my living room, along with all the gifts wrapped underneath. Even though a real tree enriches my Christmas experience, there are many benefits that come with a fake tree. I call them "authentic imitation Christmas trees" because they look pretty real, especially after you get all those decorations up on the tree.

1. Easy Clean-Up

This is my number one reason to buy a fake Christmas tree. When the tree begins to shed, it can get real messy. I have my tree in a carpeted living room, so you can only imagine the clean up process. Once I finally get the tree out of the house, I have to go and throw it away. An "authentic imitation" tree goes directly back into the box when it is time to clean up.

2. Reusable

"Authentic imitation" trees are reusable which makes them more economical in the long-run. Would you rather buy a tree once, or every year? I'll let you do the math. They can also save you the hassle of going out every year to buy the new tree, load it on your car, haul it home, and bring it inside, only to get rid of it three weeks later.

3. Five Minute Setup

Is it really possible to setup up a Christmas tree in five minutes? The answer is yes, but veteran users of "authentic imitation" trees may be able to do it in less than five minutes.

4. Pre-Lit

This is one of the most convenient parts of the fake trees. Mostly every fake tree is pre-lit, saving you the time and hassle of finding those Christmas lights. Finding the lights is easy, you say? Well what about wrapping them around the tree to find that when one light goes out, they all go out. Having a pre-lit tree will prolong the life of those bulbs because you will not have to put them on, or take them off.

5. NO SAP!!!

Although this is the last reason, it may be the best for some. 4 out of 5 people get sap on them during the holiday season (survey taken in my household). It is a proven fact. But the worst part is getting the sap off. You will need to continuously use paint thinner on the exposed area until it comes off. This is not fun at all. Not to mention the fabrics and clothes that it gets on.

Do yourself a favor this year and get an "authentic imitation" Christmas tree because you will not regret it.
