Real Estate: City Dwelling or the Suburbs?
Each One Has Its Perks, but If You Only Had One Choice, Where Would it Be?
I have lived in the suburbs most of my life, I think around 28 years of my life, that is when I was still single. But when I got married, I moved in with my husband at my in-laws's home.
Don't get me wrong, I love it here. However, what I don't like is, it is quite far from the downtown area and most of the business centers are there. So when I go out and have to take the commuter jeepney (our public transportation) for my errands and transactions, it is really very tiring. And it takes so much time to prepare and I have to go out earlier in order to keep my appointments. When I get home by the end of the day, I am dead tired, sticky, and reeking of dust and fumes.
But really, this kind of home in the suburbs refreshes and relaxes me because of the fresh air and greenery around. Yeah we do have a small garden in our city dwelling, but it is not much. It is just a small space with plants on the third floor. But at my parents' house, we have a spacious bungalow for a house and a spacious area for a garden. It is planted with fruit trees, vegetables and ornamental plants. We also could not hear our neighbors' voices because the lots are spaced far from each other. And most of all, few cars pass by the streets. So it a quiet and peaceful neighborhood.
So if you were given the chance, what would you like to have? An apartment or condo in the city, or a nice bungalow home in the suburbs?
For me, it would be both. My work requires me to be in the city. So I guess having a place there for the weekdays is good. But for the weekends, it is very nice to retire in the suburbs, to rest, etc, and be ready for the grind the following week.
I intend to do this when I give birth. By then, my parents would really love having their grandchild around. So it works both ways. The problem there is that I don't have internet, so no income for 2-3 days while I am there. But it is okay, I get to rest.
What do you think? Do you agree with me?
Take care all and God bless you!

Post a CommentI think you should try to find a way to retire early and sell the place in the city, plus more time with the family. Also think of the money you will save frome such a move, also try to think of other ways to save and you might just be able to retire. Invest in gold it's easy to buy and sell, plus it's value will always go up.
