If you think you like an area, take the time to go and drive around and get the feel of the area. You do have a large variety of neighborhoods with real estate under $300,000.
Richmond Town is one of the most historic sections of Staten Island. It is located almost in the center of the island and is home to one of the best museums in the city. A two bedroom townhouse will start at about $300,000, but the majority of real estate will be much higher.
Great Kills is in the south east part of Staten Island, very near the beaches that ling the eastern shore. One of the main streets of Staten Island, Hylan Blvd, goes through the town and is the main shopping area. A one bedroom co op will start at about $90,000.
St. George is in the north east part of Staten Island and is the location of the ferry terminal. It is the most urban area of Staten Island and has absolutely fantastic views of downtown Manhattan. A studio co op will start at about $100,000. A one bedroom will start at about $110,000. A two bedroom co op will start at about $200,000
Bay Terrace is on the south east shore of Staten Island, is the location of the Staten Island Mall and is right next to one of the beaches that line the shore. A one bedroom co op will start at about $150,000.
Annandale, on the South Shore of Staten Island is one area where there are relatively new homes and is bordered by a wildlife preserve. A studio co op will start at about $110,000.
Tottenville is a neighborhood at the southern tip of Staten Island and is a blend of stately old homes and newer townhouses. A studio in one of the townhouses will start at about $185,000.
