Real Haunted Houses: Real Accounts of Haunted-Home Happenings

Do you believe in haunted houses? Do you think the souls of the departed reside in them? Take a look at some of the eerie dwelling places of some who say they know of real haunted houses.

Lilian Place in Daytona Beach is being renovated into a bed and breakfast type of establishment, but has a dark past. Built in 1894, it is the oldest house in Daytona Beach. It is reportedly built on an Indian burial mound. Paranormal investigators have a taken a look into the goings-on at Lilian Place, and reported that the abnormal normal things do go on there , such as the lights going on and off by themselves. One man lived with the ghost he calls Lucille for quite a while. He said he lived with the ghost in peace. He moved to a condo, knowing a ghost would not like it there.

Raynham Hall is on none other than Long Island, New York, and has been renovated into a museum. Built in 1740, it has a colorful history concerning the Revolutionary War for the United States. It seems that British troops were given shelter there and one British Major had a plan to bribe Benedict Arnold to surrender his troops. The plan was overheard and told to General George Washington, and was foiled. It is said the ghost of the British Major still visits this house on occasion. Smells of cinnamon and apple come from somewhere in the house to those who visit. Tour guides of this house-turned-museum have called their bosses with stories of smelling the cinnamon in the house. The bosses casually say it is the sign that the tour guides have been welcomed, and therefore should not worry. When photos are taken, particularly in the children's room, strange orbs appear in the photos. Electronic recordings reportedly reveal screams and such that are not there when originally recorded. It seems to be commonly accepted in the area that this old house is haunted.

Which other popular haunted house is also on Long Island ? You guessed it; 112 Ocean Boulevard, Amityville, Long Island, with the ever popular Butch Defoe, who is probably still in prison for killing his whole family in one frightful night. Is it really haunted ? You will have to make up your own mind on this one, as the general public says it is, but one investigator, Stephen Kaplan says it was a hoax. The priest who reportedly blessed the house had some real suspicions that the Amityville house was in fact haunted. Who is right ?

Those who have lived in what they call real haunted houses feel a little shy at confessing their experiences. I found one online that gave a particular warning not to play with ouija boards. For this reason, you may not find nearly enough real haunted houses, if that is your thing. The paranormal investigators will have to let us in on their findings, since most people who live in a real haunted house are afraid to tell !
