Real Housewives of Atlanta Keep Cool

The Housewives Don't Bring Much Heat This Week

Well...this was a ho-hum episode of the "Real Housewives of Atlanta." Last week was a tad on the slow side as well. What is up, Housewives of Hotlanta?

New BFF's Nene and Lisa go shopping before they hit the road to visit Lisa's family in L.A. Speaking of new BFF's, Kim returns to the studio to meet up with Kandi and the two discover they're May babies. Kandi seems like someone new for Kim to glom onto - last season, she was all over Sheree, mostly because it seemed to irk Nene. And now she's all up in Kandi's Kool-Aid. Kim wants to do a duet with Nene and asks Kandi to produce it, though Kandi is a little hesitant to commit. Speaking of singing, Kandi was inspired to write a song about Kim, something about flying above the drama. I don't know - Kim seems pretty comfortable being smack in the middle of the hurricane.

Nene is planning an alter ego photo shoot with the girls and besides returning to her stripper roots, her grand plan is to unleash Kim's Black girl, and thus dubs her "Keena." Or in Nene's words, Kim has to "get Black and get Black quick." Alrighty then.

Sheree is back among party planners as she tries again to launch her She by Sheree fashion line. Sheree being the superstar in her own mind, wants to be adorned in Tiffany trinkets and squired to the show in a Maybach. The planners look at her like she's straight crazy and check her boo. They make no promises and make it clear it's only the first meeting and not to get her hopes up. Maybe crazy party planner, Anthony, should have taken this approach. Sheree then auditions models for her show and I had to agree about those girls - it was scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Back in L.A., we got to meet Lisa's family, but not before we saw Lisa and Nene singlehandedly revive the economy by cleaning out Rodeo Drive. How cute is Lisa's grandma? Her beauty secret is Vaseline. I'm gonna run out tomorrow and buy a jar. The whole issue of whether or not Lisa would visit her brother's grave felt a little contrived to me and I have to question why Lisa would allow something so personal and frankly, private, to be filmed. But as the saying goes, everyone's different.

Kim dialed up Kandi for dinner, her main motivation being to gossip and unload about Lisa. Kandi wisely didn't allow Kim to drag her into the mud pit and mostly listenend while she sipped her virgin Shirley Temple. Kim looks perturbed that Kandi doesn't want to swill a bottle of wine with her. The gals end the night with Kim giving Kandi a demo of "Don't Be Tardy to the Party."

Best part of the episode? Meeting Michael, a potential gay husband candidate for the "Real Housewives of Orange County." We've got Brad and some would say Simon in New York City; Danielle Staub's gay husband, Tom over in Jersey. Can't forget Dwight, of course. Those OC gals are behind the curve on gay husbandry unless you count Jeana's gay boyfriend, Frankie, which I don't.

The big alter ego photo shoot is next week and there look to be plenty of tantrums and tiffs. Can't wait.
