What does it mean to be star-crossed--
to be crushed under the weight
of what was meant to be
or to crush the dreams of a man or woman
who, in love, waited for us patiently?
To think of them that
would love
but had to leave
how unappealing that bastard thought--
but to be a star like those that dominate
the sky
in some else's eye
for I have no real count of stars.
For all I know there's millions,
a number much less than my future days
spent contemplating
what star crossed your green eyes
that they would look away from mine.
