Reality

Missy H.
A poem about someone I know

Who she loves is with another
He would not be if she had her druthers
There is really no way to change a thing
and she searches for something to dull the sting
All this time and she only wants him
She thinks about him like a phantom limb
Wishing she could say "I love you"
just so she knows it was said
and it would still never get him
out of her heart or even her head
Day dreaming about what she wishes to be
wishing fairy tales were real
like in movies and romantic novels
a love that is ideal
Wishing for a moment
when he says this was a joke or nightmare
but the burning slap of reality
always makes her painfully aware
