It is one thing to fear a change with in the dogma of society, it is another to oppress and suppress that change and its changers to ensure your own secure feeling. That is why there are people who write articles like "Gays Are Unable to Critical" (no that is an actual typo in the title of the article) and "What Gay Distinctives?" (Note that these two articles are by the same author hence the inaccuracy in title). These sorts of articles represent those afraid of change and unable to accept the reality of those changes. Suppressive conservatism is a truly hindering and obtuse ideology which promotes propaganda that illegitimizes the truth about the GBLSTQ community.
So to debunk the propaganda here are a top ten anti-gay arguments that come up which are truly false.
10: False: Gays are dirty sex obsessed people who are sinful and only care about their erotic fantasies.
Truth: This above, is a stereotype promoted by people who are anti-gay. It puts gays in a position that could and is often viewed as low some or below that of "moral society". However, the vast majority of gay (meaning gay, bi, lesbian etc) are looking for the very same thing that most people are looking for, a relationship with someone who is caring and loving, who happen to be of the same sex as they are. I cannot say that only some gays are promiscuous, but I can say that promiscuity among gay people is about the same as it is with heterosexuals, proportionately of course. There are more straight strip joints in the US than there are gay strip joints. For every gay prostitute in the US there are at least a dozen straight prostitutes. Promiscuity is a thing of humanity not of a specific sexuality.
9: False: Gays hate god!
Truth: No, gays do not hate god, regardless of their religion, some individuals do, but again the actions of one should not be spread to be the definition of a whole. Many gays are responsible of calling the christian community gay bashers, based on the actions of some christians. However, it is one thing to claim a hatred towards a possible being, and calling christians out on their poor chrisitan morality in action, when it comes to gays (like the articles I referred to before. *christianity is always lowercase in my writing out of disrespect.)
8: False: All gays are just straight people with a problem.
Truth: Gays range from all types of people, with their own background and experiences. I cannot deny that there are some gays out there that are not really gay, I know a few. However, there are almost ten million people (one out of thirty) in the US that are gay. So if we are being told that all gays are just straight, then there are a lot of people with a problem. It is more likely the case that these people are gay. Occum's razor, the simplest answer is often the best answer. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, has feathers like a duck, it is most likely a duck.
7: False: Gays have an "agenda" to make the US and other countries less moral.
Truth: This one makes me laugh people who claim this non-sense have no gay friends, and have been brainwashed. K. B. Napier's article "The Gay Rights Charter" shows just how desperately idiotic the claim is. With examples like:
"A Summary of What They Want-
1. Not to be questioned on anything, no matter how stupid is our claim
2. To lie to governments and people, without being accountable
3. To intimidate and commit acts of violence without restraint
4. To willingly contract fatal diseases, without blame
5. To willingly pass-on fatal diseases to all of mankind, without blame
6. To misrepresent the facts, whether social, scientific or theological."
Let me point out that; gays like to argue, yes we have inalienable rights, but those rights are the same ones everyone else enjoys, take away gay rights and you take away all of your rights. Gays, on the whole lie just about the same as everyone else. Yes they may keep secret about their sexuality, why would they not with people like K.B. Napier writing crap like this about them, but beyond that our President (excuse me ex-president) is more likely to lie to us out and out.
Commit acts of violence; is that what you call getting shot by a straight kid? Or being lynched, dragged behind a car for several miles, and then propped on a fence pool to die? How about being thrown off a bridge? Because gays have had more violence pushed against them and on them than in the reverse. In fact most gay people do not like violence and will peaceably assemble and protest.
Willingly contract diseases, seriously? No person contracts diseases on purpose or willingly, nor do they willingly or knowingly pass them on. Unless the person has some uber grudge against someone those statements are blatantly wrong.
Lastly, the only misrepresentation going on is with people spewing anti-gay sentiment to maintain their dogma.
6) False: God can change gays.
Truth: God has nothing to do with gays or being homosexual, people do. Those who claim to be changed by faith are really changed only through the social dynamic of the group that changed them through mental and physical manipulation. None the less brainwashing neither ensures nor helps with the mental stability and capability of "converted gays". In fact it can do irreparable psychological harm to people put through the treatment.
5) False: The bible says homosexuality is a sin.
Truth: this point is arguable, yes the Old Testament says homosexuality is a sin, but in the New Testament Christ actively rebukes many of the old ways of viewing the old laws. christians are supposed to follow the New Testament, not the old testament. If they were meant to follow the Old Testament they would be Jewish.
4) False: Gays can't be christian.
Truth: As pointed out in number five, homosexuality as a sin is arguable, and gays can be christian if they so choose. Personally I do not see why they would want to be with all the animosity that exists there, but to each their own.
3) False: "Gay activists are now trying to use pseudo-academic writing to sway minds. They accuse everyone who opposes them of being unprofessional and stupid." (The Gay Rights Charter by KB Napier)
Truth: Gay activists are using actually researched papers to support their arguments, not pseudo-academic, really academic. They only accuse those of stupidity as being stupid. Like those who would argue that gays do not have the right to marry, even though under the Ninth and First amendments they do.
2) False: "Gay activists and pro-gays cannot offer substantial evidence to support their lifestyle, because there is none. But there is plenty of evidence against it." (KB Napier)
Truth: Gay activists and pro-gay supporters offer tons of evidence that substantiates their reason for their lifestyles. There is so much support for their lifestyles it scare people like KB Napier. His claim there is evidence against is even further from the truth than his first statement.
First what is evidence: evidence is "Your basis for belief or disbelief; knowledge on which to base belief." If we are referring to a christian evidence, then no there is none, but when it comes to social norms, trends, and overtones there is plenty. The gay lifestyle is the same as any others. Going to work, living with a boyfriend or girlfriend, going out, etc. A statement that there is no evidence to support their lifestyle, is a statement saying there is no evidence to support the lifestyle of everyone else.
1) False: "Did you know a 'Gay Agenda' actually exists? Did you know that it instructs gay activists to target intelligent people in positions of influence, to manipulate their opinions in favor of gay demands... using flattery and deception?" (KB Napier)
Truth: There is a gay agenda, to establish their rights in the US. Which is much like the Black Rights movement, and the Women's Rights movement, however they are targeting people who can help ensure the liberty and freedom of all US citizens. KB Napier wants gays to be second class citizens, the new slave race. He uses arguments that were once used against Blacks and Women during their rights struggle. What is worse is that many other people are doing the same thing. Look back on history and you will see the same indignant language used against Black slaves, and then women. Beware people who use this propaganda to perpetuate a prejudice.
